Israel now a secular Russian colony?

Arielle claims that most people support Israel because they believe it’s populated by the survivors and descendents of Europe’s Holocaust, from Germany and Poland particularly, but this is a myth perpetuated by successive Israeli governments – particularly the present coalition of Netanyahu and Lieberman (pictured) – in order to induce global guilt, sympathy and funds for a Jewish state which has now morphed into a secular Russian colony.

“Russian Jews – who lived in Marxist ‘heaven’ since the 1917 Russian Revolution – were prominent in the early settlement of Israel (think Golda Meir),” explains Arielle, “and after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 there was a massive exodus from Russia which catapulted earlier Russian migrants into prominence – especially Avigdor Lieberman who is now the face of modern Israel as the leader of the Russian speaking Yisrael Beiteinu party (the third largest political party in Israel), as well as being the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister in Netanyahu’s coalition government.”

“Lieberman’s family migrated from Russia to Israel in 1978 when he was 20 – an age at which it is almost impossible to change stripes, I should know, that’s how old I am,” laughs Arielle. “After serving in the army he earned a BA in International Relations and Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem while working as a bouncer, and then a manager, in a student club; and later co-founded the Zionist Forum for Soviet Jewry and in 1988 went to work with Netanyahu.”

“The Great Immigration of Russian settlers between 1989 and 1996 provided a stellar opportunity for Lieberman,” says Arielle. “He started his own Russian speaking Yisrael Beiteinu party and harnessing the enormous power of nearly a million well-educated and politically disillusioned immigrants he helped to change the political, social, economic and cultural face of Israel; and, despite being investigated by Israeli police about corruption and thuggish behavior, Lieberman remains untouchable by virtue of his huge Russian support base.”

“The Russian immigrants – conservatively 900,000 since 1989 – increased Israel's ‘Jewish’ population by almost 20 percent, to 5.2 million and constitute about 20 per cent of the Israeli electorate,” says Arielle. “Because being ‘Jewish’ is defined politically as having one Jewish grandparent, the immigrants are not even secular Jews – they are largely atheists and winning their votes became a hard and dirty struggle.”

“They refuse to assimilate – they run their own Russian-language newspapers, television stations, magazines, schools, bars and restaurants and choose to live separately from the established Israeli communities,” says Arielle. “They are Russians first and foremost; they are allowed dual citizenship; they can return to their homeland any time they please but choose to remain in Israel because they have more political clout and social benefits – particularly healthcare, courtesy of US aid – in their adopted homeland than they do in present Russia.”

“As in all nations with immigrants, there is resentment on both sides but the frequent brawls between Russian and Israeli youth show that this resentment is deep-seated,” explains Arielle. “The Russians have gained reputations as thieves, anti-Semites, alcoholics, prostitutes and racketeers; and the Israelis are slated as being liars for misrepresenting the Israeli-Palestine conflict and enticing Russians to migrate with a false picture of a warm welcome awaiting them in Israel.”

“The immigrants complain that they are treated like second-class citizens, and discriminated against in employment,” adds Arielle. “It’s believed that 65 percent of immigrants with university degrees are either unemployed or forced into casual menial jobs, and coming from Russia – where everyone was working and had tenure of employment – this is a huge complaint, but one that is related more to the breakup of the Soviet Union and the new global economy than to any intrinsic fault of Israel.”
.
“There is a huge cultural gap between the Israelis and the dominant Russian immigrants. Those that suffered hard lives in Russia feel disgust at the easy lives of the Israelis, and those that thought they were escaping the totalitarianism of the Soviet Union are shocked to find Israel an even worse dictatorship disguised as democracy.”

“Although service in the military offers the young immigrants an entry ticket of sorts into Israeli society,” says Arielle, “many refuse to serve and prefer prison. This has led to Israel relying more and more on foreign military forces to fight their wars for them. ”

“The Russian immigrants have definitely made Israel more ‘European’, but in doing so they have also made it less religious. Believing that one Jewish grandparent is enough to be called Jewish, the immigrants who wish to follow the Jewish faith are incensed to find that the rabbis insist that that definition applies only to a person with a Jewish mother. Consequently, Jewish marriages, divorces and burials can be denied.”

“Little wonder, then, that the immigrants have separated and recreated a little Russia within Israel,” says Arielle. “They hold dual citizenship and maintain strong ties with their motherland – ties which allow officials from the former Soviet Union (who once supplied arms to the Arab states, conducted a cold war with the west and denied Jewish citizens the right to emigrate) to be welcomed in Russian immigrant dominated Israel as friends, allies and business partners.”

“The only thing that really glues the Russian immigrants and the Israeli’s together, it appears, is a common hatred or fear of the rising Islamic world and that, perhaps, is the reason why the Israeli government's definition of citizenship eligibility is now so liberal (one Jewish grandparent gets you in). With about 1 million Russians still in the former Soviet Union who qualify for Israeli citizenship – and Avigdor Lieberman eager for his Russian speaking Yisrael Beiteinu party to become the leading political party in Israel – it is likely that he will do his best to entice more Russian immigrants to Israel, and may even drop the Jewish requirement altogether for his Russian compatriots.”

“Russia, along with the US, UN, and EU plays a role in the Arab-Israeli peace process and because the negotiations have become so tortuous and protracted one wonders exactly what is going on,” muses Arielle. “Lieberman, like Netanyahu, believes in Israel’s right to expand settlement in Palestinian territory and won’t budge on Jerusalem and in this respect they are in direct confrontation with the UN, EU and the US – so are we looking at a Russo-Israeli alliance?”

“In dealing with Israel, are we now, in fact, dealing with our old cold war adversaries?”

“Are we so bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan – fighting a war to make Israel safe, sending our youth into the killing fields while Israel and Russia look on, rub their hands and line their pockets – that we fail to see the big picture?”

“What I am suggesting is that the aid we have been giving Israel to support and protect the Holocaust survivors is, instead, supporting and protecting recent Russian immigrants of dubious origin and may one day be used against us.”

Stop Israeli Immigration!

Deslea believes that dispossessing millions of Palestinians in order to create the state of Isreal as a homeland for Europe's displaced Jews in 1947 was an act of insanity -- as is continued immigration of ethnic European Jews to Israel -- because it is leading to genocide in Gaza.

"The original Jews are ethnically similar to Palestinians," says Deslea. “Abraham came from present day Iraq, the Romans dispersed them 2,000 years ago and no modern day European following the Jewish faith has any right of ownership to ancient Arab land."

"After WWII, when evidence of atrocities against European Jews became known, everyone was sympathetic but no nation wanted to take them in, but creating the state of Israel as a homeland for them in 1947 solved one problem, but created another that festers on today in the Israeli-Palestinian wars."

"The future looks bleak for Palestinians because Israel exists by virtue of the might, power and money of the USA (notable for exterminating the Native American Indian tribes and stealing their land) -- and the Palestinians themselves are seen as dispossessed pariahs in the eyes of the Arab world."

"The Israeli-Palestinian conflict may indeed be about religion but fundamentally it’s about turf, power and money."

"At risk of offending both Palestinians and Israelis, and with deep regret that so many innocent Palestinian children have been killed," says Deslea, "I want to point out some similarities between the Gaza-Israel conflict and the war against smokers, and I ask smokers everywhere to support Palestinian rights and freedoms because bullying and grossly unfair restrictions are what conflicts everywhere are all about."

"Neither war has much to do with the popular reasons put forward for them," explains Deslea. "The Gaza-Israel war may indeed be about religion -- and the war against smokers may indeed be about health -- but we all know what it is really about."

"The Jews were a minority religious group of people who had been treated as pariahs and exterminated like rats in their German and Polish homelands," explains Deslea. "After WWII, when evidence of atrocities against the Jews became known, everyone was sympathetic but no nation wanted to take them in so it was agreed to create the state of Israel as a homeland for them."

"Unfortunately, the creation of Israel in 1947 had the result of dispossessing millions of Palestinians," sighs Deslea. "Solve one problem, create another, how insane!"

"I don't remember exactly when the smoking wars began -- sometime in the 1970s or 80s," says Deslea, "but if you equate the majority of smokers at the time with the Palestinians, and the minority of non-smokers at the time with the Jews, you get the picture."

"A small group of people previously downtrodden now had the upper hand, and not being contented with their new improved status now desired to expand their territory, power and wealth at the expense of the majority."

"To do this, the Israelis blithely used the methods that their former Nazi countrymen in Europe had used against them for the ultimate solution -- genocide."

"These methods have been used since time immemorial by all sorts of people to gain whatever it is they want."

"The first step is organization, where special units or militias are trained and armed if necessary to promote the cause, infiltrating all levels of government, the media and especially educational institutions where impressionable young minds can be molded to fight for the cause."

"The second step is classification, dividing people into us and them - Muslim/Jew, smoker/nonsmoker, fat/thin, rich/poor, etc."

"The third step is symbolization, forcing symbols upon members of pariah groups -- famously the Star of David used by the Nazis, but what about ID cards and the grotesque symbols on cigarette packs?"

"The fourth step is dehumanization, where one group denies the humanity and the rights of the other group -- freedom fighters become despised terrorists or racists or anti-Semites and their property and funds are confiscated; and smokers become filthy, dirty lung diseased morons whose medical rights are denied."

"The fifth step is polarization where hate groups broadcast polarizing propaganda and human rights groups are silenced -- think of George Bush saying you're either with us or against us; the lies about WMD in Iraq; and how the world sat by, stunned into cowardly silence, while Iraq was illegally invaded and turned into another killing field."

"The sixth step is preparation of victims for genocide, where victims are identified and separated from mainstream society, isolated in ghettos like Gaza, because of their ethnic, religious or lifestyle identity. (Note how many official forms, job applications, medical histories, insurance forms etc now require your identification as a smoker -- and how many smokers are migrating to smoking ghettos, particularly in Spain and Greece, or are being forced into hiding in their own homes)."

"The final step is extermination where killing takes place with mainstream approval because victims are no longer seen as being fully human."

"I'm sure many Israelis see what their government is doing to the Palestinians for what it is -- as many Germans and Poles saw what the Nazis were doing to the Jews for what it was -- but in both cases the situation had escalated to the point of no return where anybody with any conscience feels helpless to do anything about it."

"The time to stop victimization, brutality and genocide from happening is not when it has happened," sighs Deslea. "We should have learnt enough from history to be able to nip these things in the bud at their very first step of organization where any minority group with a divisive cause to promote infiltrates the establishment."

"Personally, I believe dispossessing millions of Palestinians in order to create the state of Israel as a homeland for Europe's displaced Jews in 1947 was an act of insanity, as is the continuing immigration of European Jews to Israel," says Deslea. "The original Jews were Arabs; Abraham came from present day Iraq; the Romans dispersed the Jews 2,000 years ago; and no modern day ethnic European of the Jewish faith has any genetic right of ownership to ancient Arab land."

"Because the Israelis are a minority group, it should be easier for the Palestinians to exterminate them than for the Israelis to exterminate the Palestinians, but because Israel exists by virtue of the might, power and wealth of the USA (notable for exterminating the native American Indian tribes and stealing their land) -- and the Palestinians are dispossessed pariahs in the eyes of the Arab world -- the future looks bleak for Gaza."

"All they can do now is throw stones and fire off rockets in emasculated anger," sighs Deslea, "which is sort of like how the marginalized Jews behaved 65 years ago in their European ghettoes. For every Nazi that the ghetto Jews killed, hundreds of Jews were killed in retaliation. Why can’t the Israelis see themselves as being no better than bullying Nazis?"

"What Gaza needs -- and what oppressed people everywhere need, including smokers -- is people of conscience all over the world to make their voices heard, to stop feeling helpless and to stop turning a cowardly blind eye to what the fanatics among us are doing."

"Yes, I may be offending both Palestinians and Israelis by likening the Gaza-Israel war with the war against smokers," admits Deslea. "No bombs are dropping, no children are dying, but if the anti-smoking fanatics restrict any more of my freedoms I will most certainly fight back with whatever means I have and be prepared to die in a massive retaliatory bombing in the process."

"So, because the rights and freedoms of Palestinians are being trampled on, smokers definitely have common ground with them."

"Israelis, remove your walls, barbed wire and checkpoints; lift the blockade of Gaza; respect the rights of Palestinians; and unite with them to create a new society based on diversity and acceptance," says Deslea, "and, nonsmokers, think very hard before you demand more of our turf!”

moving out of africa

500,000 BC is the earliest dating of fossil remains of early man found outside of Africa. This was Sinanthropus lantianensis and surprisingly these fossils were found in China!

From 1,000,000 BC (the dating of Transvaal Man in southern Africa) to 500,000 BC (the dating of China Man and other hominid fossils) - there is a startling gap of 500,000 years in the human fossil record that indicates that this was the period of the greatest migration that has ever taken place.

Early man was on the move - to all corners of the Earth - using land mass bridges that just don't exist any more.

We know from DNA evidence that we are all related to the earliest African hominid fossils, so if our ancestors migrated from Africa to China - either crossing to Spain from Morocco in Northwest Africa and trekking through Europe; or crossing to the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt in the Northeast and trekking through the Middle East - why is there no record of their existence in the lands they traversed?

We know that there was a massive Ice Age in the northern lands that did not recede until 12,000 BC - after which human enterprise in that part of the world developed by leaps and bounds - so it would appear to be unlikely, but not impossible, that our ancestors made the trek to China through Spain.

Assuming that they trekked to Asia through the Middle Eastern lands, what happened to their remains along the way?

The earliest human fossil in the Middle Eastern lands was Neanderthaloid Man, dated 120,000 BC, and discovered in Israel. This is thousands of years later than what one might expect to account for the migration out of Africa towards Asia.

Interestingly, the earliest human fossil found in Europe was Caucasoid Heidelberg Man - Homo heidelbergensis - discovered in Germany and dated 450,000 BC. This, too, is much later than what one might expect to account for the migration out of Africa towards Asia - we are looking for human fossils dated between 1,000,000 BC and 500,000 BC - but it does indicate that migration did take place through Europe, and that it was the northwest coast Africans who led the migration out of Africa through Spain (just like they do in modern times, but without the need for boats).

Assuming that they trekked to Asia through Spain and Europe, we are still left with the question: what happened to their remains along the way?

The easiest solution to this problem is to assume that because that part of the world became the most heavily vegetated - and populated - in later years, the remains of our earliest ancestors are totally inaccessible, buried under mountainous layers of forests and debris.

To speculate that the wild animals consumed all of their remains, leaving none for us to find, raises the question why they would do this outside Africa, but not in African itself?

Did they throw their dead into the sea? Although customs about what to do with the dead did not emerge until much later in our evolution - the oldest known human burial site being in the Shanidar cave, northern Iraq, c. 60,000 BC - it is possible that those who trekked to China took the bones of their dead with them to the new land as some sort of primitive ancestor rite pre-dating a later Chinese custom.

However, considering the scarcity of food, a more likely explanation is that hunger forced them to eat their dead and break their bones into pieces - as many cultures still do today in respect of animal bones - in order to obtain nourishment from marrow. In desperate times, even modern man resorts to cannibalism.

Like most questions in history - especially concerning ancient times - there are no easy answers.
