When the wave of migration from former colonies hit Europe after WWII the proverbial man in the street objected vehemently against what he considered an 'invasion', but the European leaders carried on regardless and railed against the evils of racism because Europe needed workers to replace the millions killed in the war.
Had there been a referendum on the issue, it is likely that the people would have voted against non-white immigration. But there was no referendum. So much for democracy!
The fathers of democracy, the ancient Greeks, found that democratic freedoms weren't enough to save their civilization from being swept away by the rise of Judaic-Christianity, so democracy is no safeguard for western freedoms either.
In fact, in a perverse way it is exacerbating the problem.
How can European nations vote for leaders willing to crack down hard on non-white immigration when the immigrants - using the Hitler legacy - have already had enshrined as unlawful and a breach of human rights such dastardly acts of discrimination?
There was once an old joke about the British Queen addressing her subjects and remarking with surprise that all she could see was a sea of black, brown and yellow faces - most of whom couldn't understand a word she said. This is no longer a joke. It's becoming reality.
When tourists visit London or Stockholm they quite reasonable expect to see Anglo-Saxons or Swedes in the same way that they quite reasonably expect to see Arabs, not Anglo-Saxons or Swedes, in Mecca.
There is no point in traveling to any foreign land when the unique people you expect to see there have been outnumbered by another race of people.
All nations lose their uniqueness, their special qualities, their beauty and their charm, when their populations are too racially mixed - and nobody knows this fact better than the Japanese people who pride themselves on being ethnically pure.
Japan has not, and never will, accept foreign immigrants.
The racist slur - and the Hitler legacy - is often leveled against white people voicing strong opinions about the loss of white racial identity in Europe, and this is amazing because what could be more natural than any person - black, white, brown or yellow - expressing the same opinions if people of a different race were flooding into their ethnically unique culture?
